Alma del Desierto (soul of the desert) draws inspiration from one of Mexico's native plants, the cactus. In Mexico, every part of the plant is used, whether it's for food or healing properties. However, it is often not seen as visually appealing as other native plants, which gave Gigi the idea to create their own cactus with eye-catching materials.
Gigi Pineda
Gigi Pineda is a queer, nonbinary Chicane Visual Artist based in Orange County, working in Photography and mixed media. Gigi draws their inspiration from their Mexican community and often explores themes based on gender and sexuality.
