Echoes of Hunan is in the Phyllostachys nigra, or black bamboo, area of the Fullerton Arboretum. This specific type of bamboo is native to the Hunan Province of China, so I wanted to create something that incorporated some of their history. My goal was to create not just a beautiful piece but one that tied in with cultural relevance as well.
